Bringing a magical holiday shopping destination to downtown Detroit, Somerset Collection CityLoft continues at the First National Building, 660 Woodward Avenue. Partnering with Bedrock Real Estate Services, it features nearly 40 Somerset retailers, including 7 for All Mankind, Aveda, The Body Shop, The Buckle, Cache, Eddie Bauer, Icing, Lego, Lilly Pulitzer, Lacoste, Paradise Pen, Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids, Ralph Lauren, Swarovski, The Detroit Shoppe, Thomas Pink, plus live DJs, carolers and more. Unlocking magic classes like Wizardry and Dark Art in Two Point Campus brings a lot of personality to the game. It also spices up campus life by providing students with the ability to cast hexes and other wonderful spells.

DC: Most ranches do not lend themselves well to being built out into campuses, so there are limited possibilities to begin with, and in the currently volatile land market, we were up against an even greater challenge to deliver the right scenario. The Magic Food Bus also operates at MxCC@Platt in Meriden. Grab-and-go items are available daily. Students fill out a food request form and we process the form at our Middletown campus and transport the food to MxCC@Platt the next day.

The Magic Food Bus is a mobile food pantry serving the students and staff at Middlesex Community College. Inspired by a similar pantry at Norwalk Community College, former Professor Judith Felton and Coordinator of Institutional Advancement Trenton Wright headed the effort to bring a mobile pantry to the Middlesex community. After purchasing a used school bus with grant funds, students from Vinal Technical High School renovated it and brought it to the Middletown campus.

In the spring of 2019, a satellite pantry opened at Platt High School in Meriden to coordinate with the college's evening course offerings there. The MFB@Platt is open Monday through Thursday evenings and food is transferred weekly from the main campus to this satellite operation.

The pantry was closed from 3/13-8/26/2020 (6.5 months) due to the pandemic. We provided cash assistance to the Amazing Grace Food Pantry in Middletown. We also distributed about 70% of our existing food inventory to the Amazing Grace and the Salvation Army in Meriden. Students were encouraged to visit these local pantries. Classes resumed but available seats were reduced for on-ground classes by 79% resulting in a severe drop in students on campus. Shopper traffic is nearly back to normal during the Fall 2022 semester.

Our goal is to meet students where they are, and to ensure that all students have access to support services on campus and from home. Middlesex takes pride in the fact that we are reducing the stigma around asking for help, and that we can provide our students with the food resources they desperately need.

M.A.G.I.C. is currently creating a Minecraft virtual tour of the entire MinnesotaState Mankato campus. Global visitors wishing to view campus will be able to tour residence halls, the dining center, and classroom layouts. Along with virtual campus tours, running Minecraft through a server would accommodate large groups attending a conference or other large campus event.
