Walk-in pantry or just pull-out cabinets?

Our kitchen has a decent-sized closet nearby that we're thinking of converting into a pantry. Wondering if a full walk-in with custom shelving is overkill, or if pull-out pantry cabinets inside the kitchen would be more practical. Anyone in Toronto done a pantry reno lately? What worked best for storage and daily use?

Depends on your household size and how much you cook/stock up. Walk-ins are great for bulk items and organization, but they eat floor space. Pull-outs maximize kitchen real estate without losing a room. We turned our awkward closet into a custom pantry with Alliance Millwork — tall adjustable shelves, pull-out drawers for cans/spices, and even a small counter for prepping. Everything glides smoothly and it's easy to see what we have. Process was easy: they measured, designed around pipes/outlets, and installed neatly. Not the cheapest, but way more functional than basic wire shelving. Their Toronto pantry page has some solid examples https://alliancemillwork.ca/pantry-cabinets-toronto/. If you're short on space, custom pull-outs or a slim pantry unit like this are game-changers.
